hello,
iam a engineering graduate passed in 2002.
after getting through SCJP, iam now preparing for SCWCD.
i read ur discussions stating its not sufficint to hold only graduation+certifications but need to have practical knowledge even for entry level.
will i be able to do a project on my own now?
suggest me along with SCWCD preparation what am i to do?
thanx

I disagree. If you are young, about 23 to 28, that's all the technical skills you need. We seen several posts from recent college grads successful in entering the labor market.
I'm not saying you'll find multiple offers or anything like that. But some people have been getting hired. What is the difference between them and you?

Can you get hired with no practial experience? Of course, tens of thousands of engineers do it every year as they graduate from school. Will having experience help? Most certainly. But realistically, it's a catch-22.

Many companies hire only new graduates directly from campus. The question is how long one is new graduate? I guess after 6 or 12 months one has no access to jobs advertised on campus anymore and becomes graduate without experience. In today IT job market it must be rather difficult.

people have Bachelor Of Engineering Degree in software engineering or EE from engineering department probably have better chance than ppl with BS in computer science from Department of science.
anyway I have a Bachelor of science degree and I am not even 23 yet i have just recently passed scea part1 but i still cant find any job i have been rejected or ignored for many junior or graduate IT positions i have been finding jobs for several months already.
