init parameter in JSP

hi all,
how can i pass init parameter to a JSP page? i can do it with servlets. i use iPlanet4.1 Enterprise Edition. i tried to do little research on the subject and i think passing init parameter to a JSP is yet not supported on may webserver (i might b completely wrong though)....
please try to throw some light on this...
