This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
OK everybody, let's give a big JavaRanch welcome to Joel Murach and Andrea Steelman the authors of this week's giveaway book. Your intrepid reviewer had this to say: "This is an excellent tutorial that will painlessly teach you how to write complex web applications. I doubt that there is another book available that makes the subject this easy to understand." This week's book is about servlets and JSPs so we will allow questions about both topics in this forum for the week. My question for Joel and Andrea is this, how come only Andrea's picture is on the book? Not that I'm complaining.
One more feedback about the book. I don't see any downloads for the code samples used in the book at http://www.murach.com/books/jsps/index.htm What if in future I loose my CD that comes with this book. Well it's not related to the contents, but just a thought I wanted to share.

I think my picture didn't make it onto the book for a couple of reasons. First, I hate having my picture taken and all of the pictures that were taken of me came out pretty bad. So bad that the marketing geniuses at Mike Murach & Associates (including my mom) said it would hurt sales of the book. Second, and more importantly, Andrea is much more pretty and photogenic than me and her picture came out great. Plus, she wrote more of the book.
