Data in JS Page is not being displayed

Hello all,
I have a rather stange problem at hand. I have a java server page which interacts with a class file(this class file deals with the database connections, and queries etc), and displays data according to a pre-determined format.
Sometimes, it so happens, that the data is not at all displayed. I get a blank page. However, if i open the jsp and make a small change to the file(assume that i press the enter key, at any empty section of the page, or something like that), and save that page, and refresh the browser, that page works fine, displaying all the data. I am using an Apache Http server for this project. I face this problem, every 2 or 3 days.. I have to go to the server, open the page, make that correction again, and save it... It runs fine.
Can anyone tell me why this problem occurs..? I mean, the developer is not expected to go over to the server and regularly refresh the page. The operating system is windows XP..

PVS

The page must be having some static and some dynamic content. Are both kinds of contents not being displayed?

I suggest you add the code in UBB code blocks.
Which App Server are you using, Tomcat?

I wonder if this has to do with browser caching the page. You can add the following lines to the jsp to disable browser caching & see if this fixes the problem. Pl. let us know it this fixes your problem or whatever solution you finally find that works.

hello Anil, James & Sadanand,
Thanks for your replies folks.
Yes, the JSP contains both static and dynamic code. James, can u tell me how to go about coding within UDD code blocks.
The server we are using is Apache HTTP server..
Sadanand, thanks a lot!.. I will include the code that u have given and will check out the results.
Thanks folks...

UBB is the tag JR has setup to format text.
When you post you will see a number of UBB Code buttons below the Add Reply button.
BTW. HTTP Servers do not run Web Apps (unless you add the container ofcourse). I assume you have tied in Apache Tomcat.

P. V. S,
JavaRanch is a community of people from all over the world, many of who are not native English speakers. While using abbreviations like "u" instead of spelling out "you" and "r" instead of "are" is convenient when text messaging your friends on a cell phone or in a chat room, it presents an extra challenge to those that are already struggling with English. I would like to ask for your help in making the content of JavaRanch a little easier to read for everybody that visits here by not abbreviating these words.
thanks,
bear

hello Bear,
Thanks for reminding me. I will see to it that my future posts have properly structured and formatted English sentences, and not cell-phone language.
Coming back to the problem, I am afraid.. the problem still persists, in spite of me having added the code that was sent over by Mr. Murthy. Any other solution to this problem please.?

Praveen, did you try to debug by adding any debug statements to see what is happening when the page doesn't show any data?

I don't want to tread on any bartender's shoes. There could be another reason to not use abbreviations (saw this on some other forum) - It is possible that the forum may get translated to another language via automated translation tools. In such cases, abbreviations (unless they are universally accepted) will not get translated correctly and potentially cause confusion.

Sadanand, no toes tread upon at all. In fact, thanks for bringing up that insight. Point is, the Ranch is a professional site (hence the strictness of the naming policy) and we'd appreciate the patrons helping to keep it that way by using professional language.
thanks,

P.S. In fact, I may add that reasoning to future posts of this nature.
