Custom Tags Vs Beans

Hi,
I am creating a JSP page which has many comboboxes whose values are to be filled with data from database. I am thinking of using custom tags to fill the combos. Probably writing a single custom tag which would fill each combo based on some attribute passed to it. Or using Java beans would do? Is there any edge of using tags over beans in my scenario. Please suggest.
