Listing Users

I have a jsp page a particular task is assigned to multiple users.
At the moment, the users are picked from a combo box and assign and this
process is continued. For the end users, it's a tedious job.

If I display in a table and with check boxes, the user list is big and end user has to scroll down and click multiple users. Users are not in a group so it's not possible to assign a group. Is there any other method of doing this? Like any bean or something?

Any help is highy appreciated.

"Cosmos Ja",

We're pleased to have you here with us on the Ranch, but there are a few rules that need to be followed, and one is that proper names are required. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Cosmos Ja --

Regarding your display name: to my ear, it doesn't sound like a real name, probably because "Cosmos" is a word in English, and not one that is ever used as a name. But personally I'm willing to let you keep using it.

Regarding your query: if this is really important, you might consider the kind of JavaScript trickery that went into Google's Gmail address completion or the new "Google Suggest" demo. It's basically autocompletion -- each character you type automatically causes a long list of possibilities to be narrowed down, just like the location bar in many web browsers. It's a tricky thing to do, though; you might go over and ask about it in our "HTML and JavaScript" forum.

We're always interested in feedback about how this site is run; in fact, we've got a whole forum for that purpose here. But being rude or abusive to the staff won't get your input heard. Furthermore, Bear does a great job of both helping people learn about Java and keeping people in line, and personally attacking him (or anybody else) for enforcing a site policy isn't going to win anybody any friends, either.

Finally, note that anyone who feels they are "so tired of listening" to our staff that they find themselves incapable of acting in a civil manner is absolutely welcome to spend their time elsewhere; and anyone who proves themselves to be so will be shown the door.
