Basic question is if you will search in files or in database.

Thank you for your reading my threat,

In my web application, I use the database to store all the records. How can i search for a record via a search engine with a keyword given from HTML FORM ?

You could use LIKE clause in select statement. But some databases has a fulltext searching functionality.

The best known Java text search engine is the open source Lucene project.
However you decide to proceed, I strongly suggest that you do NOT start by writing JSP - put your search methods into a class that can be tested outside the servlet-JSP environment. Development will be much faster and debugging simpler.

Hi William, does Lucene support searching in database or only on file system, I cannot find on their homepage.
