Exception with FileUpload

I am using a HTML form with ENCTYPE="MULTIPART/FORM-DATA" to upload a file , at the other servlet, i just want to check the request to see whether it is a multipart/form-data or not but i receive an error: javax.servlet.ServletException: Servlet execution threw an exception

Which Exception i have to include ?

Before I come here, I am confused about Servlet/JSP. Ater I come here, I am more confused about it, but in systematically.

I would recommend that you give a few more details of the code (servlet or JSP?) which is receiving the uploaded file.

Also, even though it hasn't been updated in a while, I would check out the famous multipart upload free code written by Jason Hunter (co-author of Java Servlet Programming, O'Reilly).
