hi...
i have a list of people names displayed in a jsp page and i want to choose few people from this list and invite them for a conference chat... on clicking one of the names, i have to pass this name to a java code for some processing... can i do so? or is there any other method to choose this list to invite them using some java functions (the invitation functions are already defined).

Shanu Jain, I am not clear about what you want to know and what is your problem/error?

First write about you requirements, than write what you have done, than write where you stuck.

Sandeep Singh Kunwar, JavaRanch is a community of people from all over the world, many of who are not native English speakers. While using abbreviations like "u" instead of spelling out "you" is convenient when text messaging your friends on a cell phone or in a chat room, it presents an extra challenge to those that are already struggling with English. Additionally, such shortcuts may confound automated translation tools that patrons of the Ranch may be making use of.

I would like to ask for your help in making the content of JavaRanch a little easier to read for everybody that visits here by not using such abbreviations.

Please read this for more information.

thanks,
bear

As you know, you can't mix and match Java and Javascript code on the page, so the only way to do this is with a request back to the server.

You can do this by submitting a form back to the server (or changing the page href) under Javascript control, or do it "behind the scenes" using XmlHttpRequest (Ajax).
