document root for JSP

I have a very simple question about the document root for JSPs.
I am using jdeveloper as my dev environment.
I have placed the jsps in a directory under the document root public_html.
Now i access the application as <application name>/CDShop/<jspname>.jsp.

I get the filenotfoundexception saying no such jsp under public_html.
So in case i am not placing my jsps directly under public_html ,but in a separate folder(beneath public_html),how do i make them accessible?

I thought the servlet engine searches from public_html downwards for loading the JSPs

The most common place for JSP's is directly under your context. So in your case it might be CDShop/<jspname>.jsp.
