JSP Form Help

There is a JSP file in which I have created a form.In this form I use the drop down menu in which value changes on onChange java script function.Now I want to save the form data into a database.But when onChange function is called,the page goes to "/servlet/something".Now plz advise me that how it will be possible that when onChange function is called,it should
remain on the same form and when I click on the submit form then the servlet called. I am trying to use the JSP file for saving the data into database, but It give exception.But when I disable the onChange function then servlet perform right working. Now plz help me whats the matter.
