Hi

Was just wondering how the Job Market is for J2ME developers. What is the Skill set that people look for when they decide to hire someone for J2ME projects ( J2ME for sure but anything else ?).

is knowledge of J2EE important or can a person get by knowing how to work with servelets ?

appreciate your comments

Regards

I just took a look at all the jobs on Monster.ca that required J2ME. There weren't very many of them and the most frequently requested additional skill was C++.

Only one required EJB and 2 required JSP. Its hard to imagine an Application Server running on a cell phone, but I've heard of stranger things.

Because I have J2M on my resume I've been getting som J2ME development cold calls lately. I haven't done servlet/web stuff, so can't directly compare. I suspect there is more web work out there.

Thanks for your responses ...

I have been working in the mobile application development field for close to year now .. have worked in series 60 , BREW and J2ME .. Its like i have a overview of everything and have knowledge of the subset that i used to develop our application but feel that apart from J2ME i do not have a deep understanding of the other technologies.

Do you think giving SCMAD would help my chances of nailing a job in the mobile application development field?

or should i consolidate my knowledge on the server side with servlets and JSP ?

Can someone recommend a good book to learn J2ME?

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
