Throw the ball in their court.
Tell them you are not aware how much Software Engineer in Singapore with 4 years of exp. earns. So they will give some figure. Then you can compare that salary with your current salary. Also you can check on Monster/or Singapore realted job sites and get back to them.
Instead of hearing 'No' from their side, you can say 'Yes/No' to them.

I second Arjun's comments.

FYI, Singapore is a modern nation with a relatively high cost of living. Housing is extremely expensive there. If I took a job there, I would probably expect them to provide housing (or if they don't be sure to do some pricing of housing and commute costs--you definately won't have a car there).

Uh, yeah, they're a nation. I've been there and have many friends from there. it's a great place and an economic powerhouse in southeast Asia.

(Are you thinking of Tawian, which the PRC still considers a rouge province?)

Hi,

As a four year experienced software professional, you can ask between 4000(least) Sing Dollars to 6000 (max) Sing Dollars per month.
Note that 1 USD ~= 1.7 SD,
As far as I know, there will be 15% tax in your income.
If you are getting suppose 4000 SD per month, You can save around 2000 SD.
and Regarding housing, you can get a flat starting from 900 SD.If You are a bachelor, you can go for sharing.
For transportation, you can take a bus or train. Its cheap.

Regards
Krishna Mohan.

Even I think 4000 Singapore dollars to 6000 is an ideal figure to quote.

Is it true a experenced java professional can earn 4-6k in s'pore....?
I notice the head hunters not approaching u if u quote above 4k.....and also most of the jobs r short term basis contract 3/6 months....

Does anybody have other opinions???

Taiwan is a nation, though the communist Chinese rebel government on the mainland thinks otherwise (remember that the communists drove out the people now ruling Taiwan in a revolution, not the other way around).

The confusion here may be with Hong Kong which is indeed not a nation and never was.
It used to be a UK colony, and is now part of communist China.

Hi,

I have worked in Singapore for more than 6 years. It is very difficult to get a salary of 4k there if you don't have any experience in Singapore. Probably you can go for 3k-3.5k salary. Again it all depends on what consultants are willing to offer you.

Saliya
