my opinion is that entry level for non US citizen or non GC holder wud be really tough. But lets see what others have to say.

I came to US in 1990 and I had to get a M.S. before I could land an inteview. In the mid nineties, several Indians came to the U.S. for employment ( as opposed to going to school first in the US). Now the trend seems to be similar to what I have seen in the 90's in that it will be easier to come to the US as a student than as a prospective employee. This is not so bad, going to school will give you a chance to understand the culture and people before entering the workforce.

hi..
my personal experience is that entry level java/j2ee jobs are tough to get in the usa.
either you should have relevant coursework in a MS-CS degree or a couple of sun certifications.

Actually many people enter those schools only for that purpose.

I've a Java job and I'm not a US citizen. So do millions of others.
Of course we're not in the US most of us...
Leave jobs in a country to the people of that country and get a job in your own country.
Or emigrate to another country and become a citizen there.

I know of a few companies in USA (VA-DC area) hiring Java/.NET ppl for entry level positions.
1. PWC
2. Deloitte
3. Bearing Point
4. Accenture
5. Sapient
A lot of my seniors have got into these companies after graduaction. Typical pay packages are 55-60k in this area.
