Few of my colleagues are working in Webmethods in our organisation with 3/4 years of total exp...and getting 10L :roll: Which is the most suitable career in terms of career and financial prospets: Webmethods or J2EE?

I know webmethods is cool at this point, but i think I wud still go with J2EE...I wudnt really want to cut myself off from the rest of the world...

the latest hyped tech always brings in the most cash. It also means you either get burned out constantly following the hype or you get left behind sooner rather than later with a lot of knowledge about tech that noone uses anymore (since that's what happens to most hypes). In either case you end up with no (or low) income as your skills are basically unmarketable and you yourself too old for entry level positions.

Successful ones are those that made the transition to technical management as they get older/wiser. But I am finding out that even in IT I have a hurdle to cross- I am a woman of Indian origin.

That depends on the individual, some people prefer to stay in the technical roles because that is what they like doing, and that is their definition of success. Prema, Why do you think being a woman of Indian origin is a hurdle? What do you feel is the bigger disadvantage of the two?

what kind of certification will make u have a good prestigeous and high profile career path? CCIE , OCM ? SCEA?
