Hi,
I want to do a certification in java , but i don't know which certification will be the best, i know SCJP is the base certification for other sun certifications. actually i am not sure about the scope in java ,i just don't want to feel guilty after doing this certification, because many people are saying that java's scope has decreased alot and now its time for .NET . Are there any jobs in field of java remaining for inexperienced people like me. Please answer my query.
Vibha.

Having any certification, whether in programming language, music, fine arts will not harm.Having certification is not must but advantage.Java jobs, currently there are many although many of them are support related.
Where are you located? If India, then freshers(few, not all!) are too getting coding jobs but are reducing day by day. Also now ,majority of programming jobs do not involve emacs/Gcc but some customization of already existing successful software.

There is lots of work in java. .Net does not beat java hands down.

Do the study for the test. Maybe if the fee for the exam is needed more somewhere else spend it there. If funds are not an issue and you want to add a line to your CV go for it.

Of course .NET can't beat JAVA .
After I finished my university I work 1 year on .net but I find my self after one year just a professional MS tool's user not a programmer I do every thing with .NET without enough OOP knowledge .Then I change my field to JAVA now I feel realy I use my mind on work not my mouse click.
.NET at least is dependent to MS platforms and aren't appropriate for programing on other platform .
But unfortunatly it's Architecture is better (completer) than java because it is new.
