session lost jsp question

I have a problem. our application redirects the user to a sessionLost.jsp page when http session is timed out. There is a continue button in that sessionlost page which will take the user to a different application. But the URL for this button is not static and will be different for different users. This URL will be obtained when the user logs in to the application. I cannot store this in session since session will be lost anyway and the URL cannot be retrieved. Is there any way I can use a cookie(server side) and store the URL for each user? if yes, how to do that? If not, does anyone have better ideas for this issue?
