adding element to form

It is easy adding an element to a form. However, what if I want it generic. I do not want to change my code in my jsp and then need to change my code in my javascript.

So I need to set up my jsp and my javascript so that I pass a form and an element to duplicate. All the element's properties get duplicated and added back to the form ( say after the element that was passed).
