Developing the JSP pages(how to make search possible from mysql)

I am new here could any one know that if we are building the JSP pages, using mysql, if user want to search any items through entering one, two or many words(String)like any search engine, which method or logic we will use, I have some hint but not sure that if we use for-Token using delimeters its gona work or not.
