How is the IT Job market in Canada these days. Is it J2EE or .NET skills more looked out for?

In Calgary there is equal demand and it seems to be going well here.

The job market in Canada appears to be much better than it is in the states. Canada is less expensive and is an offshoring destination. There is no equivalent of the H1B visa. Many immigrants complain of having difficulty getting foreign experience recognized here. Toronto is very cosmopolitan, the Indian, Pakistani, Portuguese, Italian and Chinese communities are very large. Both Java and .Net are in demand.

Frankly speaking, it is really tough for a new immigrant to get a good IT job in Canada. Experience from IT giants such as IBM,HP,etc. counts. Good communication skill is a must.

Thanks peter for the reply. If foreign qualifications are not that recognised, what do u think is a good Canadian IT qualification to have under the belt, in order to get a job more quickly in Canada?. or will only Java certifications such as SCJP, SCWCD, SCBCD etc would do?
