IMHO, don't shift to Satyam if you're already in IBM.

I feel Satyam is not a better company as compare to IBM. If onsite is your motive, I guess even IBM will send onsite know. 6yrs exp -> 5 different companies is not good for your resume.

I guess satyam salary wise is not as good as IBM. One good thing about Satyam is they didnt had any layoff during IT down time.

Thanks all, for your valuable advice.
Actually I felt that, mid size company gives more opportunity to work on better technology, currently in my project, the onsite chances are almost nil, and this company is trying to handle only US client, so visa problems are as usual. But mid size companies are trying to gather project from Europe and other countries.

So my thinking is if salary is good say as per experience +1.5 L (Dont know if Satyam pay this much) and on hand short term on site chance with better technology, better scope of work, then is it considerable?

Yes I do agree that 5 different company is not good, so I must wait for couple of years.

Any comments !!

I wont think Satyam will pay you +1.5L, but any way you can take a decision after getting the offer rite.

Regarding better technology, better project its very difficult to get. During interview interviewers may say that you can work on different technologies that this and what not. But when you really start working you may not get chance to work in all areas which you wish, or every one may not get chance to work what they want to work. So you may not get what you looking for better scope work. And also with my experience I feel that after 6 months with a company you will feel bored with work.

But if it is long term onsite opportunity definitely you should think about it.

Right now I am working for Satyam from Onsite. I have been with satyam since 2 years.

As per my experience, in many cases satyam is far away from CMM standards.

1)Work Culture and environment is not good.
2)Timmings: Generally flexible timings. But most of the times u will be looser.
3)Basic facility: No extra fecilities. What r the fecilities u need??
4)Salary: Some times u will get equal to exp.
5)Onsite: If u get job in consulting & enterprises division, u will get onsite.
6)Lay off in case of IT down time: Every week 10 or 20 .

Regards,
Murali

Regarding lay offs I heard that there is no layoffs still now. It was told by my friend who is working in satyam since 1999. He told satyam, infosys, tcs jobs are very very secured like indian govt jobs.

And ppl also behave like those working in govt. jobs, so should give you some idea about their work culture!

Jokes apart, but I have seen some very mediocre technical talent and matching attitude in many ppl working in Satyam/PCS/Kanabay/MBT. If posssible avoid these companies, not rated very highly among techies.

Facility means, well its really a wide term, but i meant that CL,PL. LIke if a person need leave for couple a day, then there should not be any problem in terms of sanction, or considered as with out pay(during one year of joining). Bus, canteen , Medical, Gym, car laon, Deposit towards house loan, easy reimbursement these are the few facility which some company provides. And yes, yahoo mssngr, msn, access of internet with out any hiccups from senior, which are restricted in some projects of certain companies. Actually these create a healthy environment while working.
While working I really dislike if manager is just stand behind you and seeing your screen, to figure out what he is doing, and again manager is only concern about the completion of work, he dont care what technical problem you could have ?

Well asking all these I just want to analysis the next jump, which mid size company will good like Satyam ,Mastek,BMC or some others.

Mastek is having a big project in UK and it is sending many people for onsite for that project. So you can try your luck with mastek.

BMC is very good company, good working culture. But its a product based company so no onsite chances

Well, that doesnt depend on the company. any company will have different kinds of managers.

You made it sound like there is something wrong with having routine work, salary, cool life, no risk and dreams... is there anything wrong with that?? Lot of ordinary people like to do that.
