My aim is to develop a web portal containing *.doc, *.txt files. The user can only read the document, user should not save or modify the files. How will i develop it using jsp? Help me sir.

In order for a user to view a PDF, they would need to be able to download it to their local machine. Once it's been downloaded, there is nothing that can be done on the server to prevent it from being saved.
Browsers usually save these to a temporary directory and then open Acrobat with the local path to the file.
