Is TCS ok to achieve my dream

My dream in life is to have Rs 4 crore(40 million) in hand before the age of 30 yrs..currently I am 21 yrs old and I have got a job in TCS...

Will this company help me acheive my dream...I plan to accumulate money by the following plan..heard that TCS sends people for lot of onsite projects..so in case if they send me to US for 2 years then the calculation is as follows..
I hope to save around 1.5 lakhs/month..so 24*1.5=36 lakhs...

and within 10 years I guess i can go onsite minimum 4-5 times...

so I will have around 50 lahs..that 50 lakhs if I invest in equities and real estate I feel I can earn 4 crore by my 30th age..

Ranchers what do u feel...please reply...If you feel some other company other than TCS can help acheive my dream please suggest those companies also...

If my estimate is low or high please provide me revised estimate of the money i can accumulate in 10 years.

Thats not realistic atleast from economic perspective because of following reasons.
1)1.5 Lakh per month thats approximately more than $3000.For that TCS has to give you more than 3K.Thats very difficult unless Tata doesn't want their company in profit.
2)Value of Rupee against US Dollar is appriciating at much higher speed.As a result Indian/Offshore companies will find doing business difficult here although Rupee appreciation is good for country overall.Currently 1US$ = 43.6 if it goes below 40,assume half of business in "danger".
For your dream to be successful I don't think there is any other way than starting a company or go to media business.

Can you say how much TCS pays when they send you for onsite.how much do they pay for US,UK and Europe..

it looks like I can to now revise and downgrade my progections..
Any idea in 10years how many times can i go for onsite roughly on a average??

10 years is a very big period.Its very difficult to predict even for next 6 months let alone 10 years.I don't have much idea on exactly how much they pay now but some of my friends who worked there onsite,left TCS within a year and joined another company.This was 5 years back.TCS definitely can not send everybody onsite.

have a master plan.The first thing that I am going to do is I am going to do is find a suitable girl in my office,make her love me and then marry her..what do you think..Now probability of either one of us going onsite increases..so hope that plan will work out..

is there any special previlages for couples in TCS regarding onsite?
* please revise my projection..is 2 crore ok..or it will be still less..

Instead of all these "plans", why don't you purchase lottery tickets?

Starting your own company especially in areas of biotechnology/IT is the best option I can see.Starting a company now a days in India has become very easy now.Following area are hot:
1)Information Security
2)Embedded Software
3)EDA
Customizing Opensource solutions for Indian clients is also very good idea.

Arjun, I am planning to buy a lottery ticket .If I win I will give 25% to you. The amount must be above 1 L.

yes! what you said is a good idea but sadly i dont have the knowledge or the expertise needed to start the company..but can u give a revised estimate of my projections..the only option left for me is to work in some company..how much usually is the increments in cos like tcs,infy,cts,wipro etc..any idea..

Increments generally depends on your capability and their requirement. It is between 15 to 50%.

If u r main person in project and u offer resignation, they may increase your salary as u want.

If u jump company after your increment , u will get good hike in new company.

Remember TCS can't make u earn 4 crore. In the onsite hardly they give u 1.5 lacks per month. U have to pay tax, your expenditure from this 1.5 only. I think u can save only 50k per month.

The only way to earn enough money is from the onsite, u can jump to a MNC company and try to be in US for 10 years. It increases your chances of earning.

Marrying a girl from your comapny makes your target easy. 2 crores in 10 years may be not difficult, she may earn another 2 crore.

Try to provide quality service, automatically money and fame follows you.

Hello suresh ji ......I was very much amused to see yr post and replies.

First why you do you need so much money after 10 yrs. DO you have any commitments in life ?? or earning money is your only goal ??

Currently TCS pays around 3400$ gross for ppl with less than 3 yrs exp. Last year they introduced one rule regarding applying US visa to freshers. Only after confirmation (after 1 year) they can apply visa

. Nowadays getting US visa takes atleast 4 - 5 months. So even if u get immediate chance after your confirmation you will be travelling after 1.5 yrs only. I think same case in other companies only.

In worst case if you get allaocted to some Euore of AsiaPAcific projects .... Onsite period will be very less or will take some more time.

This is the current situation @ TCS. So its better to revise your esimates ??? Marry indias richest gal

Since no welthy girl is willing to marry you (b'z you $$$ is one of your motivation of marrige) hence you are a man of principle I am all confused here.

I am just kidding stop fuming, first of all I want to congratulate you on deciding a concrete goal within a time frame for yourself. You are also asking the right questions to yourself how to achive that. But if you are also clear why you need Rs 4 Cr in the last granularity you are more likely to achive your goal.

Some possible reasons why you want to rarn money could be

1) You want to contribute your family and friends to achieve there financial goals.
2) want to quit working for a trip around the globe or persue a foreign degree.
3) Financial freedom.
4) Want to be a person others can look forward in the time of distress or financial need.
5) Security.
6) want to learn and buy helicopter
7) persue sports hobbies e.g. sky diving, scuba diving, sking.

and the list can go on but the bottomline is if you are clear in your mind why you want to accumalate the welth you will find the ways.

OK enough of lecture one concrete advise once you land here in USA and have 2 paystub you can start looking for other projects in ny city or west coast. change the company and join some small body shopper. You can argue a bad career move from TCS to a body shopper but this will help you in saving may be 1.5 lacs a month (given that Rs does not appreciate significantly)

Thats like saving almost $3000 a month. Isnt that too bold a figure? Considering that most body shoppers start you off with $50-55 with no benefits and no health care? And if you're living in NY, you gotta take the cost of living into consideration too!

3k $ is it enough to manage expenses and pay house rent?
What about people with more than 5 years exp?
