The thin driver is a pure
java
type4
jdbc
driver. The oci driver is a type2 jdbc driver.
Here is a basic JDBC tutorial:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/basics/index.html
Oracle has a pretty good site for JDBC.
More information can be found at Oracles technet site:
http://technet.oracle.com/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/
Here is an Oracle tutorial on using their JDBC drivers:
http://technet.oracle.com/doc/java.815/a64685/toc.htm
Hope this helps.
