But it was just a joke...Morover I have been an ardent fan of JR, although I dont post much...I have been here for abt 5 years now and I know the unsaid rules... Still wondering why the post was deleted..Probably because somebody else posted something rude...?

I mean to say, deleted thread related issues are discussed in JavaRanch forum.
I'm not speaking for the person who deleted the thread, and not that I disagree with the deletion, but the "problem" with the MD moderation policies and interpretations of the "be nice" rule make it possible to delete almost anything.
In the end it wasn't nice, there was a suggestion it should be removed, it got removed. The rest of us have moved on
It has been mentioned already that future queries of this type should be raised in the JavaRanch forum where itr can get the correct attention.

Explain to me how the female members of JavaRanch could smile or laugh in the presence of the deleted thread we're discussing. It started with four jokes that implied, in order, that 1) women are ungrateful, 2) women are bossy and domineering, 3) being married to a woman is a living hell, and 4) women are spendthrifts.
Ha ha ha! Hilarious! Bwahahahahaha! Yes, we can all laugh together at this slander of half the human race! Next week, perhaps we can post some racist jokes about Indians and all have another huge belly laugh!
A joke about a guy that's so stupid he drowns looking up during a rainstorm is OK. A joke that says that Krinklestanians are so dumb, they drown looking up during a rainstorm is not OK. It's unclear to me why so many people have trouble understanding this.
With due respect to all, IMHO, looks like we can not smile or laugh together anymore in MD.
Oh it's been a while since that day.
If you want to defend jokes that come at the expense of a culture, race, gender, etc., or you want to lament their loss, you can always try hanging out at a gravel quarry or a bar. There really is no need to immortalize that brand of humor here.
But if you want a real killer of fun, why not look at the vast majority of other posts lately? "What did you have for breakfast this morning?" "How much does notbebook paper cost in your country?" "Did you hear the commentary on the India vs. Australia test?"
It says something about the alleged fun of that forum if no one can find any ground between insulting women and asking people about their day.

Am really sorry that my post has created such a ruckus over here. I meant the joke to be a joke and not slander of any gender or race.
and we don't take it personally or hold it against you - as long as you aren't trying to push our buttons

Please dont take it wrong. I really dont know how many female members really take it seriously.
Not long back, there was a thread to discuss whether blonde jokes are racist jokes or not. Our own Kathy came in defence of such jokes, who said she herself was blonde. Very much possible, there would be some people who think that blonde jokes are racist jokes.
I cant help those people except that I apologies to those who think that blonde jokes are racist jokes OR funny quotes on woman represents misogyny.
Sheesh ... how does a forum that is supposed to be about wasting time dig up these issues ...
First, the golden rule of MD is that if it is of offense to any of the staff that has the ability to delete stuff, it will be deleted.
And there is where damn near all humor falls short. It seems that most jokes manage to annoy somebody.
I remember telling a crude joke to a friend in high school. We had just started to chuckle when suddenly, THWACK! A ball point pen was embedded in my arm! Apparently, a girl was eavesdropping and the joke did feature female body parts ... My arm had a blue spot for the better part of a year.
I'm not sure if I saw the joke in question, but I do know that some hackles were raised about a joke that I posted - and then somebody else reposted it. This was the joke about the husband store. The punch line had something to do with how women are never satisfied. Then another part of the joke was that there was a wife store and men were always satisfied. Of course, the joke forgets entirely about all the other jokes about men being less than satisfied with their wives.
Of course, nobody talked about why the first few women that made it to the top floor didn't tell their friends to go to the fifth floor of the store. And, in reality, I think there would be plenty of women that would have been completely satisfied at the first floor. And many at the second. Etc. But the joke made up stuff to ... well, make a feeble attempt at a laugh ... I thought it was funny. I also that while there may be a thread of truth there, it was not completely true: as is the case for almost all jokes.
We have also seen jokes that talk about guys that don't ask for directions. Guys that care more about beer and football than their intimate relationships. Guys that care more about a free bicycle than a beautiful, nude woman.
I think that making a joke is hard. Making it funny is really hard. Making it funny and not offend anybody is damn near impossible. Laughing is easy. Being offended is easy. Some people just have some days where no jokes are funny. And some people just have some days where the lamest jokes are hilarious.
I like the idea that if the humor factor is pretty good and the offense factor is not too bad, that the joke stays. Maybe there can be some kind of joke warning in the subject line so that the sensitive folks can skip the thread.
Once in a long while we come across a joke where the offensive factor is greater than the humor factor and I agree that it has to go.
So .... folks like JavaRanch because of our moderation system ... and we want to live our life and have a few laughs ... so I ask folks that wish to share jokes to please take a moment to help it get past those staff that might want to delete stuff. I could use a few good laughs these days. A little extra effort might help that joke to get to where I can read it!
