i am working on WebSphere 3.5 with Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere 6.0 as the backend.I am using jconnect 5.2 jdbc driver.Could you please help me with my following queries:
1)I have to run two ASA databases on the same machine .and i want a servlet to connect to both these databases simultaneously for ex: a servlet reads data from one db and updates the other. My problem is that though two instances of db's run the servlet always connect to that db which was started first. This must be because both the db's are running on the port 2638(default port for ASA 6.0).How to assign a different port number for multiple instances of databases.
Please let me know of any resources/links that helps developers who are working on Websphere/ASA.
Thanks,
Yogi

I haven't connected to Sybase with JDBC yet, but with other databases, you will connect to all databases running on a given database server via the same port. That should not be a problem.
The URL that you are passing to your JDBC driver should specify a different database for each connection. Are you doing that? Are you able to connect to the second DB at all, ever? These databases don't by any chance have the same name, do they?

Thanks Bodie Minster
Two databases running on the same m/c cannot run on the same
port.. right?
So, now if I want to connect my servlet to both the databases simulteniosly, how to assign different port no.s
(if I want to run two instances of databases)
Thanks
Girish
