This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
I am using code from Just Java 2 for accessing the MS Access sample Northwind.mdb using SQL. To fetch the data - System.out.println( myResultSet.getString( columnNumber ) ) ; is used. Some of the characters, like the accent, are displayed as non-printable chars. Is there a way to get all the chars to print correctly. I have looked at getAsciiStream(), but I didn't understand how to used it or know if it would even fix the problem.
