Connect SQL2000

Hi Gurus ,
Small problem.Our client want to use SQL 2000 for back end.I donn't know any efficient driver (of course free of charge or for a nominal charge) to connect the Database with my server programs (Servlets & JSP).For the development purpose I am using JDBC.ODBC driver.But I understood it is not advisable to use it for the implementation of the reall project.
Pls guide me

Microsoft is providing a JDBC driver for SQL Server 2000 that can be downloaded from their MSDN website. (According to Sun's site, they licensed the driver from Merant.) The driver is currently available in Beta 2 form at the URL As to whether there are other drivers out there, I'd check the drivers listed on Sun's site - unfortunately, Sun's list doesn't show the version of SQL Server that the driver supports, but there are a limited set of type 3 or 4 drivers that support SQL Server, period, regardless of version.
