This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
I have a program with JDBC PreparedStatements calling Oracle 8.1.7 stored procedures (PL/SQL) and I run into a mix of IO Exceptions including "size data unit mismatch" and, more frequently, "invalid packet lenght" (the misspelling is intentional). I have tried both the classes111.zip and classes12.zip versions of the Oracle JDBC drivers. I am using the JDBC thin drivers exclusively. The program runs a batch load of a fair size and it rather unpredictably fails at some point with these errors. I have searched the 'net exhaustively only to find a few postings of the problem but no solutions. Please help! I am facing a deadline to get this code out the door as usual. Thanks!
