about "sid" in url for Oracle connection

jdbc racle:thin@localhost:1521:<sid>
what is sid? how can i get it? from oracle database? i m using Oracle8i personal edition on win98

By defualt Sid is ORCL ....
if u want to check this
start -> settings -> control panel -> administrative tools -> services
and check the Sid or Oracle Services
ok...
