the problem of connection pool

I develope a logistic system using connection pool.now It is online.But one day I can't login on!The only way is restart the webserver to initial the connection pool,then I can login.I have found the connections of the connection pool are bad instances,the test of a bad connection have waste five-eight minutes.Can you give me some advise and tell me the cause of bad connection instances!Thanks very much!

Hi Garde again,
I remember vaguely someone saying that this problem can be caused by the database automatically closing connections from its side when they are not being used for a certain period of time.
