I have a connection problem with Oracle on Windows98.Iam using the JDBC url and the Oracle driver to connect to the database.
Iam getting a network connection failed error.Does anybody know why this is happening?
Iam using Oracle8i personal edition on Windows98.I dont have any listeners configured.Do I need to do this?I figured that I need not do this , since Iam making JDBC calls from the same machine.Iam sure the JDBC url is right. Can anybody tell me why this is happening.

Is it an Oracle error number or a JDBC exception?

Works now. You need to start the listener service for oracle.
My bad

I thought you got an error saying the database didn't have listener running. Must be my imagination. Which driver are you using? Thin?
