hi all!
I face the following problem: for testing purposes I ported an existing (and working) webapp (linux/mysql & solaris/oracle) to windows98/ms-access (yuck...) I use the jdbc-odbc-bridge.
loading of the driver etc. is all working fine, the same goes for forward-only result sets (statement created with conn.createStatement();
PROBLEM: as soon as I use conn.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY)
to create a scrollable ResultSet, tomcat crashes without any further notice as soon as I issue an executeQuery(...) call with this statement. no exception, no nothing.
anyone who faced a problem like this? does the bridge perhaps not support anything beyond
"forward only" ResultSets? is it a Win98-problem or a tomcat problem?
any hints are appreciated!
thanx & greetings to all

FYI, figured it out myself. with a small standalone test program I got an exception,
(which is curiously enough not displayed by
this exception is risen outside the VM in some .dll (with the usual windoze hassle: "reason: unknown, source: unknown" ...) all I could find out was that it only arises int he 4.0 VM (sun SDK) with the test program.
so I re-deployed tomcat with the SDK 1.3.1 and it works all right.... funny. will perhaps file that as a bug on java.sun.com.
I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
