Which driver I can use to connect to SQLServer2000 from java to get best performance and features ? Please give me the pointers to get more details on the same.

we are using aveConnect JDBC drivers. It's pretty good. It's Type 4 driver and compliant with jdk 1.1 to 1.4.

Microsoft actually made a Type 4 JDBC Driver. It is totally FREE. Not a trial copy like your first response to this thread.
Here is a link to the download site at Microsoft.com.
I have used it. It works really well.
