Driver class name
oracle:jdbc river racleDriver
Connection
URL is jdbc racle ci8@connect_string active1ORCL

active1ORCL is {host=active1;port=1521; service=ORCL}
Please explain each part of URL.
As per my understanding
jdbc is the protocol
oracle is the database driver
oci8@connect_string active1ORCL represents how to connect to database server.where oci8 is oracle calling interface library inside the client machine. active1ORCL is the address of database server.
In that host = active1 '?' how do we find this (is it a server name)
port=1521 for oracle server port is always this ( am i right)
service =ORCL '?' is this an instance of server ,where can we find it?

How to Connect to Oracle. Just choose the OCI or thin driver for the URL explanation.
