Hi All-

This is my first message on JavaRanch after inspiring from long time.
Here is my Question,I am just planning to take a deviation in my career.
As I am having 4 and half years of exp in Java/J2EE.

I Just want to pick one of the above listed technologies, which I am feeling Hot in the Market. Why I had decided to change is really due to heavy compitetion for Java/J2EE in the Market for gud companies.

Out of these two I got an oppurtunity for WebLogic Portal/Integration.But At the same time I want to take your valuable opinions in this respect.

Whether to be one in the crowd of Java/J2EE,Where so many developers are available Or to be one in the less crowded Group.

What are the oppurtunites for Weblogic Portal/Integration in Present Market/Future Market/US.

Thanks & Regards

Are you working in Bangalore?

Regarding SAP Netweaver, my friend, who had 5+ years of Java/J2EE experience shifted to SAP netweavr.. He got bored with so many J2ee frameworks, so many open source frameworks..:-) ( ofcourse, thats true.. today, struts comes.. by the time, we learn and feel comfortable with it, some thing like JSF comes... :-)) ) He says, he made a very good choice by shifting to SAP.. no low level programming.. and this Netweaver is mostly related to J2EE onlly.. he says, j2ee experice is also required.. He joined some institute in Hyderabad..

We all know that the Java market is over flooded by too many programmers. So as per me it is better to have some special skills to differentiate from the crowd.

I think moving to SAP is a good career move, as we java guys can reuse our knowledge in SAP Netweaver.

What do you guys think about Netweaver instead of BW?

This seems to be one of the main reasons, why some people are thinking to move away from java..
Though, its always intersting to learn new things, use them in the work, sometimes, I feel, its too much to learn when it comes to Java.. Moreover, if you say "you are a java/J2EE guy", by default, you should know from core java to HTML, java script, Struts,Hibernate, XML,SQL, EJB,some report tools lile Itext,Jreport..and then UML, design patterns, and now JSF.. and differtent versions of these technologies,..Oh.. what not.. Everying under the sun.. :-)..
Whether you are really going to use them in the real project or not, you should know them to clear the interviewes/to get into the projects...
very tough.. I feel so jealous of my friends , who are working on DW rools like DataStage. They always say, life is Kewl.. 5hours of work, 3 hours browsing.. Sometimes, this may be other way also. Not too many things to learn..
