Are there alot of companys useing JSF ? how about oracle ADF ?

I don't think that JSF is dead, but just hasn't hit its stride yet. Give it some time.

Yes, it will take time.

It will not be in a platform spec until Java5 EE (about a year from now?). Expect it to pick up major steam then.

JSF isn't close to dead. You'll be seeing more and more of it in 2006.
