Hello World,
Even before staring the JDBC coding, how do I find out the type and name of the driver from the system settings.....(I have jdk and a DB is installed already...), is there any intuitive way to find this out?
Please forgive my innocence....

Well, as far as I know, it depends on your database. There are many drivers that you can choose from. So if you're using MySql, there's a particular driver that you use for *that* database. The same with oracle, sql server, etc.

You can get the version info of the driver by invoking methods
You will have to read the Driver vedor doc to get the type info.
