I want to make a Java class which can link to any database and retrive required data. No I am not asking for the simple java code but what I want is no matter which database is behind the appication, the will work. And if I can get data in xml format... well well!
So what do I need to ponder upon?
Thanks in Advance

You might want to look at Jenny. I am not sure this is exactly what you are after, but it might get you headed in the right direction.
Also, you might want to look at some other ORM tools like Hibernate, Castor, and JDO.
