JDBC application running very slow

Hi all,
I am working on a JDBC application (using JBuilder 9), I have more than 10 packages in each I have atleast 5 classes, in each class I have atleast 5 different queries. My application is running very slow, in the queries I DONOT use "select *" and I dont' get all the records I only get 50 records at a time. I also use connection pool.
Can anyone tell me what should I do to optimize it ? what might be the possible reason? How can I overcome? Thanks a lot

Vani,
It could be the sql statement, (lack of) indexes, network traffic, ...
You could try posting the sql statement of a description of your table here. We might be able to figure something out with more info.

When you say it "runs slow" do you mean specific operations take a long time, or everything (or almost everything) takes a long time? Does this happen when you try it on a testbed with nothing else going on, or only under high load (many users)?

thanks for your replies.
It just takes a lot of time to even open the main frame. After the application is opened it runs ok.

Do you mean it takes a long time to even start up the application, or that it takes a long time to show a certain window, but if you ask for that same data again it doesn't take so long?

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
