Hi,
I am a non-EU citizen who has finished my Masters in Computer Science from Germany and my Bachelors in Computer Science Engineering from India,(Madras University) with 70 %. I also have work experience of 1 year with Lufthansa AG,Hamburg,Germany(6 months in Eclipse plugin development and 6 months in J2EE)... I had also successfully completed Masters projects in J2EE and J2SE...I can speak German and French; Now I am looking to find permanent jobs either in Europe or in India, I have the following concerns,

1.Job in Europe:
Being a non-EU national would it be possible for me to find a permanent job in the EU,meaning would the company help me get the work permit visa as I am right now on Student visa and how much of a Starting salary can i expect in Euros.

2.Job in India:
Will it be easy to find a job in India in Java, and how much can I expect the company to pay me at start...And would there be any other advantages of having done a Masters in Europe and possesing 1 year of European Job Experience at Lufthansa.

Thanks in anticipation

I guess at this moment there are lot of jobs for freshers in India. So I dont think its difficult for you to find job in India in Java. Average pay for freshers in India is 2.25 Lackhs to 3 Lackhs. As you have 1 year experiece you can expect more than that. Having expousoure to EU, and having 1 year experience will provide you an advantage.

Good Luck

thanks for your reply, reddy,
Does having a Masters Degree enhance the payscale of a prospective employee or does it just opens up more opportunities by the <Masters> tag, and how will the chances of going onsite from there be?

Most of the time your Masters Degree will enhance your pay scale. Especially companies like TCS will give more for your salary. The cances of going onsite depends on company, project. But your abroad travel will increases your chances to go onsite.

Hi Babu !

Situation in Europe is still bad for it has still not recovered from internet bubble burst, except UK. But in general all european countries have huge mobs of jobless native IT professionals, for example about 40,000 in France and certainly as many in Germany. What is more wages for freshers are always very low, except perhaps for UK but getting a visa remains very hard even if you are already legally in Europe. So considering both great difficulty to get a visa and low wages Europe is no good option at all right now.

But anyway as the 2 countries which are simply worth in IT now are India and China, I frankly believe you should return to India immediately, still keeping your live experience in Europe as a clear advantage for future on site foreign missions. Europe is still ill and recovering, India is booming, so India is clearly the right option for now.

2.Job in India:

You fellow Indian ranchers will confirm, but you should have no difficuty to find many positions in India without effort. I am even sure that many recruiters will come to you asking for your resume before you have time to bother about reaching them, simply with your present post.

Best regards.

Thanks Eric,Reddy,Sanjay and Arun for your replies. I guess I will try to stick around back here until my student visa expires...gaining more European Experience and also applying online to companies in India...Do companies in India conduct telephone interviews, this is the whole process of recruitment by some means without the candidate required to come to India for the process, so that I can stay here to gain some more Experience...
Thanks
