Reading UDT values using JDBC

Hi all,
I am accessing a Database column of ORACLE which contains a user-defined type(object) of Oracle. The type contains a NUMBER and a VARCHAR2 field. I have used the "getObject" method of the ResultSet to get the column in a STRUCT object. From this I am able to get the value of the NUMBER field, but I couldn't get the value of the VARCHAR2 field properly. Can anybody pls tell me how to do it. I am using Oracle8i driver version 1.1.
