I recently applied for a Java Systems Developers position for the feds (I.T. Specialist, GS-11/12/13). Amazingly, with ONLY 2 years of Java dveelopment experience I was the ONLY qualified applicant. They got a dozen apps. The HR person told me that many of them were NOT U.S. citizens. Also, the fact that I was a veteran helped too. Wow! Considering I was unemployed for a while, plus rejected from many other positions, the feds wanted me. Since 9-11, the feds have been more careful in their screening for folks. Incidentally, this was a NON-DEFENSE-related position. Sadly, I know many of you out there are either H-1 or some other visa. I hope the best for you.

This message is for the Moderator of the Forum. The 'name' of the person who started this thread is inappropriate.

The straight translation of "Wang Ba Tan" in Chinese is "turtle egg" as the person indicated in his/her signature in the end of that posting.

I cannot find a proper English word to express the meaning of "Wang Ba Tan". In Chinese, it is a slang scolding someone who is produced the same way as female turtles produce their offsprings. "Wang Ba Tan" has a meaning worse than "bastard". It says that the person's mother has sexual contacts like a prostitute and the person's father could be anyone.

To Moderator:

Now, "Wang Ba Dan" is changed to "Sun Wu Kung", which is the name of the Monkey King in a world-wide famous Chinese fiction.

This is now your third warning to fix your display name.

We require display names to be two words: your first name, a space, then your last name. Fictitious names are not allowed.

Please understand that it is easier for us to delete accounts rather than try to police all possibilities in all languages. If your next is not acceptable I will ask for your account to be closed

Thanks for your assistance,
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
