This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
I live in San Francisco Bay Area (CA) and currently have permanent job. However with mergers, acquisitions looming all around its tough be permanent in permanent job. Plus one gets stuck with same project maintenance without much happening for years, effectively it kills your appetite for new skills.
I have come to belief that its much better to be with consultant, software service provider than permanent employee of real client.
However on the downside comes the pay, the software services companies pay real bottom line (~60k) compared to the permanent positions (~80k)
I wanted to know your personal experience, liking for particular consulting, software services organization.
I would appreciate if you can recommend to someone you know, you have experience with (consultants gets really creepy sometimes, IMO). Based on type of consultant, software services organization you guys might get referrer bonus (but that's not point here )

Hi Dhruv, Why dont you send me your CV at email@example.com . I know of a software services firm for whom I will be working soon, and it's in the top 100 S&P companies list, i.e. it's quite good and I can forward your CV to them. Lokesh
