Protocol Violation Error

I am trying to connect to the Oracle database using an user ID that will expire in 7 days. I expect a return message "ORA-28002: the password will expire within 7 days". But I am getting the SQL Exception - Protocol Violation. The code is:

conn = DriverManager.getConnection(URL,ID,Password);

I don't get any problems with expired ID's/never expiring ones. Can somebody help me out?
Have you checked out Aspose?
