updateString() is inserting numbers

I am using jdbc odbc bridge to update a table in Oracle database using JDBC 2.0 specifications. When I try to insert a row using

I see that numbers are inserted in the table instead of string. The datatype for field 1 and field 2 in the table is VARCHAR2(11). Can someone help me what I am missing here...

!!! Update !!!

When I change my ODBC driver from Oracle ODBC driver to Microsoft ODBC Driver it works fine and I got exact string values in the database. I dont know why the same updateString() call is inserting hex numbers in the columns?

I'm glad you have it working. My only thought is that maybe the Oracle one is using Unicode values.
