Using Apache Commons for DBConnection?

Hi guys,
How can i use Apache Commons to connect to DB?Can u tell me which is the call i have to use for ConnectionPool?i went through the docs but there are no examples.Pls help me here as i need to substiute our existing Connection Pool to Apache Commons.any examples info would be helpful
