I have created a database (MySql) for a client of mine and hes using it in conjunction with software I developed. From time to time I send him a new version of the software based on his request to improve the system in terms of more functionality.

Sometimes the revisions include adding extra tables in the database so its a bit complicated.

What I have in mind is getting a file from him using the mysqldump function and then populate all information in a new database (the one that include the extra tables). And then, send him the file (hell use the mysql p u root myDatabase<backup.txt

1.Any idea how to populate all information into a new database
2.Any other idea to do smooth the process above.

Thanks
Peter

I would just include the script to add the new tables with the new release and have him run it from the prompt.

The dump should basically spit out the script exactly as it needs to be. It's just a series of INSERT commands.

and how do you populate all info from db_a to db_b if db_b has more tables?
