jdbc and java

i am new to jdbc. so to learn it i bought a copy of "database programming with jdbc and java" by George Reese 2nd edition.
i now discovered that the text uses jdk1.2 for the examples .is it ok to learn with that book since 1.4 is the current version.arent there any jdbc related changes from jdk1.2 to 1.4 ?

Yes, there were changes -enhancements and extensions, to be more precise-, but if you're just beginning to learn JDBC they shouldn't make much of a difference. You have quite a ways to go before those will become important to you :-)
