I am looking for an ERD tool. I've found several UML/ERD tools online but most are $200+ and I can't afford that. Does anyone know of anything free - $50 where I can design database schema's visually and then save to JPEG or some image format? The only one I know of that was half way decent was DBDesigner4 however that project has been killed in favor of a commercial app for MySQL.

Thanks for any help.

I have used DeZign for databases in the past and it worked out great, but it's not free. A single user license costs $139, but at least it's not the 1K+ that they charge for ERWin.

Well worth the money!

I apologize, I was incorrect. It looks like for the full product the cost is $229, but I still stand by the product even if it's out of your price range.

DeZign For Databases

Try out the free trial.

Just curious, but do you have Visio? I've developed diagrams in Visio before and I think there's a way to actually generate the database creation scripts.

I've tried the product and even though it is nice, way out of my price range. I have visio but the database schema is only for MSSQL. I need at the very least MySQL if not the option for others.

Seen that. No longer supported. Buggy and being replaced by a commercial app. Thanks.
